Biography
Richard O. Jones is a clean comedian, published author, poet, columnist, motivational speaker, life coach, and toilet cleaner (when broke).
After serving two years of a four-year prison sentence for major welfare fraud (1988-1990), in 1993 Richard produced his own public access cable TV show entitled, "Tips Against Crime." The title of the show was taken from the title of his first book, “Tips Against Crime, Written from Prison,” published in 1993 by Sandcastle Publishing.
Jones has raised four daughters as a single parent after the death of his wife in 1981. He has been a mentor to male youth through various youth organizations in Los Angeles and Riverside County in California.
In 1994, Richard O. Jones appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show as an anti-crime consultant. In 1996, he appeared on the Leeza Show, The Today Show, and four times as a crime tips advisors on UPN News 13 Crime Watch. In 2002, Jones became a contributing writer at the Black Voice Newspaper. Jones' second book is autobiographical and entitled, "When Mama's Gone." This is the true dramatic story of a single male criminal parent raising four daughters as he struggles with his spirituality. His third book, is entitled, "Embracing Monogamy in the Face of Temptation - The Black Man's Guide to Commitment." And his fourth is entitled, "YOU ARE TOMORROW'S HISTORY." His fifth book is entitled, "PARENTING THROUGH THE STORM," this is a survival guide for single parents.
